2nd Preliminary task trailer template #1
Evaluation
This is a soap trailer for the EastEnders Christmas special. There is a wide audience range varying from young teen-late adult.
Camera movement
-In shot one there is a LS and a camera tilt.
-Shot two involves an OTS shot into a MCU.
-Shot three is a MS from a low angle.
-Shot four is a MCU with asymmetrical framming which fades into shot five.
-Shot six is a MS into a reverse tracking shot.
-Shot seven is a MCU and camera zooms into a CU.
-Shot eight is a CU and the camera zooms into an ECU.
-Shot nine uses a voyeristic point of view and the camera zooms and tilts into an MCU.
-Shot ten is an MCU shot with asymmetrical framming which is when the subject is pushed to the far side of the frame.
-Shot eleven involes a pan up into an MS with symmetrical framming.
Mise en Scene
-The trailer is advertising the christmas special so obviously it is set at christmas time, therefore it has to fit in with the conventions of christmas.
E.g. Bright lights, red and green colours, christmas decorations, lots of people about shopping.
-It is set at night time which could suggest it being the night before christmas.
-The characters are shadowed by the christmas trees which creates foreboding as if something bad is about to happen.
Editing
-There are 11 individual shots.
-Each shot fades to black in the transitions to build up suspense.
-There are quick cuts which is typical in soaps and soap trailers to be able to identify each character and their individual storylines.
-Fade ins and outs take place between the shots.
Sound
-There is a traditional Christmas tune at the beginning which is an example of non-diegetic sound as it's been added in later. This fits in with the conventions of Christmas
-The speed of the tune gradually slows down and begins to sound almost eerie, this could be suggesting that Christmas isn't going to be as happy as it seems.
-The dialogue consists of each character speaking individually as they are being introduced to the scene, Their voices sound echoed and distance which creates an almost alienated atmosphere.
-At the end of the trailer a narrators voice takes over which is another example of non-diegetic sound.
